Former Navy SEAL Ollie O'Brien can't deal with being sidelined and discharged. His military career was his greatest accomplishment. And now, he's flailing and fumbling as he searches for purpose in a world that doesn't seem to value him at all. And when his sister lands him a job in North Carolina, Ollie is reluctant to accept.

Veterinarian Paisley Smythe is in over her head. She needs help with her choices in life, and she's striking out left and right. But when a friend reaches out with an idea, she meets the one man that could be the saving grace that she's needed all along. However, the rugged, handsome, and broken man may need her more than she needs him.

As Paisley and Ollie work together caring for the animals and saving the clinic, something sparks between them. Ollie's injuries force him to believe he's not enough for Paisley. And Paisley's past demons destroy her confidence in relationships. Can they both find a way to heal in one another's arms?

This is a prequel to what I have a feeling is going to be a great series. The healing touch of a animals goes a long way. Trust me when I'm going through something or dealing with a loss my cat is often times my salvation. Their unconditional love heals. It broke my heart to see how much Ollie was struggling with what he went through and saw while serving. He finally finds some solace in Virginia. Paisley does some really good work and you know she has a pure heart with the work she does for animals. She goes above a beyond. There was one moment that was a little touch and go for me, but it all worked out, phew. I loved the introduction we got to this series. The book had a perfect combination of heart, heat, and humor. I can't wait to see what these two put into motion and all those they will help. Already looking forward to the next book!

One former military hero. One wildlife lover. And the animals who saved them both.

Relatively new to the Blue Sky Sanctuary, Grey Nottingham is desperately trying to find his bearings in a world he knows nothing about. Still reeling from a mission that crashed and burned out of his control, Grey searches for solace in a safe haven that specializes in the struggles that former military heroes face. But when he encounters a beautiful, determined, and compassionate woman who will do anything to protect the Montana wildlife, Grey suddenly knows his purpose.

Abigale Styeeks loves nature--and after finishing college, she's dedicated her life to defending innocent, protected wildlife--even if it means bringing danger to herself. When the gorgeous and tortured Grey Nottingham brings her tortured wolves, Abigale launches an all-out mission to save them. Despite her efforts, the ranchers will stop at nothing to destroy the wildlife that threatens their livelihoods. Now, battling the ranchers and saving the animals being hunted becomes Grey and Abigale's new mission. Teaming up, the two find more than the answers to protect the endangered animals. Grey makes it his mission to protect Abigale and the wildlife from the vicious ranchers. But, will they end up rescuing Grey from his own personal demons?

This first book in the captivating series! This book had me on the edge of my seat several times. The suspenseful parts had me gasping at times. Soldiers heal at Ollie and Paisley's Blue Sky Sanctuary. Grey experiences this, but then a few wolves change his path. Rescuing the lives of the wolves puts Grey in the path of Abigale. Abigale does such wonderful work to preserve the wolf population though many try to thwart her attempts. There are some nasty characters in this book who are the scum of the earth when hurting animals. That is some of the lowest of low in my opinion. I love how several groups come together to help. This found family is truly something beautiful. Then we have the love story of Grey and Abigale. I so loved watching those two fall. Grey has a lot of healing to do, but being on Abigale's land heals just like the Sanctuary. The wolves are so intriguing especially Shilah and Fern. I gobbled this book right up. I'm already eager for more from this series. There are several characters that I hope gets their stories told.
