Blurb:

They have ties that bind.

June grew up in the shadow of her brother and his best friend, Drew McKenna. She stood back while Drew dated his way through high school and college, watching and waiting. Waiting for him to realize he loved her as much as she loved him.

When he did, it was the happiest she’d ever been. Until she found him with another woman only five years after their marriage.

Leaving her husband was a simple decision, but there was no easy way to cut him out of her family.

When June receives a fresh start to her career, she also finds what could be a new lease on love. Reality hits Drew with a vengeance.

He wants her back.

She wants to make him suffer.

Tropes: Sports – Marriage in Trouble – Second Chance – High Angst

Review:

4 stars

Now normally a book with what happens with June and Drew is a hard pass for me as a reader, but I felt based on the blurb this was a book worth going out of my comfort zone to read. I'm glad I did because it gives the raw real deal of what June and Drew are experiencing. It's highly uncomfortable not just for the characters, but for me as a reader. It makes me think of another side of the story. I get what was going through Drew's mind to justify, but man he has a lot of work to do to redeem himself to me as a reader. You can tell how much Drew and June love one another. That flows right off the pages. I like that that it was a soul searching moment for both characters. The reason I stayed on the journey with these two characters was because they wanted to do the work to fight for their love. June and Drew are two characters worth reading their journey. It's not a pretty one, but it's a beautiful one for the soul. Right now when the world is mess like June and Drew's marriage it's nice to see something beautiful come out of it.
