Her worst enemy...
Could bring her heart home

Heather Stanhope wants to despise the man who now owns the ranch her family lost. But Matt Burton is raising his late sister’s adorable twins, loves horses, and is known for his loyalty and honesty. Sneaking into Adelaide Creek for her friend’s wedding, Heather hopes to avoid Matt, but fate and family have them crossing paths. Heather knows falling for Matt means risking her heart, but it’s a risk she can’t resist.

Excerpt:

Matt picked up on the mood the music created. “As it happens, I’m not a half-bad dancer. I can waltz us around this floor pretty good.” He bit the inside of his cheek. Great. He’d managed to sound like a braggart with an exaggerated cowboy drawl.

Heater offered a crooked smile and raised her arms. “Okay then, mister, show me what you’ve got.”

Grinning at her challenge, he promptly stepped forward and put his hand on the small of her back. When her warm fingers disappeared in his other hand, Matt picked up the three-quarter time and they easily fell in sync with the other dancers moving as one around the floor. She was light in his arms as she took sure, confident steps.

As they rounded a corner, he saw his mom waltzing with Grey Murtagh. He checked his table and saw that Cookie was gone and now Jen Hoover had one twin on each knee.

“Jen Hoover and my mom are friends,” Matt said. “I see the mother of the bride is looking after my twins right now.”

Heather tilted her head and looked into his eyes. “Then they’re in good hands.”

“Yes. And so am I.” The words slipped out before he could think about them, which would have been more like his usual self. But then he’d have missed her pretend disapproving eye roll.

“How’s the Mr. Charming Cowboy act working for you?”

“Don’t know. I never tried it before.” He smiled and lightly squeezed her hand.
