James Calhoun has never been able to resist Mara Tyler, or her knack for mischief. Her reputation as a reckless teenager drove Mara from their hometown. So Slippery Rock is the last place James ever expected to see her, and Mara's timing couldn't be worse. With the upcoming election for sheriff, she threatens the squeaky-clean image James needs to win. Because Mara has brought with her the result of their steamy affair: his two-year-old son, Zeke. Guest Post:

Mara’s Tips for Dating a Good Man

Being known as the town rebel was never my intention. I was a kid when the label got pinned on me - all because our school principal couldn’t take a joke - and I’ve never been able to live that label down. At least, not in Slippery Rock. That’s why I’ve stayed gone so long. In Tulsa and the other cities where I’ve developed and installed security systems, all people know about me is that I’m a smart woman who knows her way around a computer’s brain.

I like that kind of anonymity. I didn’t know how much I needed it until I left town all those years ago…outrunning yet another scandal.

The thing is, you can’t run forever. I learned that the hard way, when I fell in love with James Calhoun. I ran, and my life hasn’t been the same since. My problem is that I can’t run anymore because there are more than just my feelings to think about. I have Zeke’s feelings to consider. And James’.

And I’m tired of running. I’m not supposed to say that because I’m the town rebel, but I am tired. I’m tired of being away from my family, from my roots. I miss them, almost as much as I’ve missed having James in my life these past two years. So, I’m going to do the most rebellious thing I can: I’m going to stay, and I’m going to fight…and I hope, in the end, my good man and I will get to ride off into the sunset together.
