“Um… Mr Cross. Mrs Cross is awakeand well. She’s asking for you.” That’s all I needed to hear and I’m out of thedoor and heading to the room they had taken her to. The doctor hot on my heels.“Mr Cross. This room.” He points to a room further down. I run in and there’smy Alex eating a cupcake smiling at the nurse who’s scolding her about eatingtoo may cupcakes.
“That’s nothing, you should seewhat she eats at home.” I joke never taking my eyes off of Alex. Her eyesconnect with mine. I rush towards her and kiss her hard. “Don’t ever do that tome again.” I lean my forehead against hers with my eyes closed. “I couldn’tbear to lose you.” A tear drops from my eye.
“I promise.” She whispers.
The doctor coughs gaining ourattention.
“She needs to be on bed rest forthe rest of the pregnancy. We stopped her contractions. You have to make surethere’s minimal stress put on you. If you feel stressed at any point, removeyourself from that situation and do the breathing exercises I showed you.” Heexplains.
“You’re kidding right?” I look atAlex, she looks annoyed. “I have a five-year-old to care for, I can’t just layin bed all day and night!” She protests.
“Don’t worry doc, she’ll be onbed rest.” I nod to him as the nurse comes in with discharge papers for Alex tosign.
“Mrs Cross. This is important,you have to rest otherwise we’ll be meeting this new addition to your familysooner rather than later.”
Alex huffs and starts to open hermouth. “Alex, please. We have to do this for our baby’s sake and for yourhealth.” I kiss her hand. She looks like she wants to kill me for siding withthe doctor, but I want her safe and our child safe. I couldn’t go throughlosing either of them.
“Fine.” She sighs.
“You’re good to go. I presume youhave transport other than a motorbike?” Asshole thinks I would put my wife indanger?
“Yes, I’m taking them home.”Zander pipes up.
“Tyler.” Alex’s voice gains my
attention, snapping me out of my dreaming of tying that fucker to the back ofmy bike and dragging through Redmond at high speed while he screams like thelittle bitch he is! I look into Alex’s blue eyes. “Take me home please.” Shekisses me lightly on my lips. All images of Dr. do good disappear and arereplaced with Alex under me screaming my name. By the look in her eyes, she’sthinking along the same lines as I am.
“Doc,” I shout stopping himwalking away. “Is sex off the cards?” His face flames as red as his hair.
“N…No.” He stutters avoiding alleye contact. “Just nothing too vigorous.”
“That’s all I need to know.” Alexlicks her lips and bites the bottom one looks damn sexy.
My wife is safe.
My unborn son is safe.
My life couldn’t be better atthis point and nothing can wipe this stupid ass grin off of my face.
